Cleco is clearing the way for power reliability

Mar 10, 2025

Cleco is strengthening power reliability through the removal of overgrown and hazardous vegetation across its 24-parish service area.

Vegetation in Cleco’s right-of-way is the leading cause of unplanned power outages. In 2024, the company began doubling its tree trimming efforts to reduce the occurrence and duration of power outages and mitigate wildfire risk.

“Our reliability crews are working in neighborhoods, city centers and in remote areas that can only be accessed using off-road equipment,” said Andre Guillory, chief customer officer. “And our customers are already seeing fewer power outages where this work has been done.”

Cleco is the only Louisiana utility to meet or exceed LPSC reliability standards for each of the last 26 years and kept customer lights on over 99% of the time in 2024.

“Cleco is one of the most reliable and resilient utilities in the state and in the industry,” said Guillory. “But we are always looking for ways to strengthen reliability.”
