Cleco crews to make power restoration progress into the night

Apr 11, 2024

Overnight outages for some Opelousas and Slidell customers expected

PINEVILLE, La. April 11, 2024 (4:30 p.m.) – Cleco and contractor crews will continue to work into the night to restore power to customers impacted by yesterday’s statewide storms and tornado that touched down in Slidell.

“We have made a lot of progress,” said Clint Robichaux, director of distribution operations and reliability. “However, we do expect roughly 2,000 Opelousas customers and 7,000 Slidell customers will remain without power overnight.”

The company expects the following areas of Slidell to have power restored tonight:

  • Eden Isles Subdivision
  • Parts of Pontchartrain Drive
  • Lake Shore Estates
  • Moonraker Island
  • Clipper Estates
  • Harbor View
  • Oak Harbor Place
  • Marina Villa
  • Lakeshore Villages
  • Mariners Cove
  • Moorings
  • Grand Champions
  • Masters Point
  • Cypress Lakes
  • Meadow Lake
  • Breckenridge
  • Holiday Acres
  • Remainder of Turtle Creek
  • La Chenier
  • Bon Village
  • Portions of Lakewood (Gause Blvd. end)
  • Gause Blvd. from W. Lindberg to Slidell Memorial Hospital

The company expects full restoration in Opelousas by end of day tomorrow.

“We anticipate full restoration in Opelousas by end of day tomorrow and that the majority of our Slidell customers will be restored by end of day tomorrow,” said Robichaux. “While we are working toward those goals, there is the possibility that crews uncover unexpected damage that could prolong some outages, but that is our best assessment at this point in the day.”

Crews will continue to work into the night, and the company will update customers with additional restoration information when available.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work through this statewide outage,” said Robichaux.
