Company offers restoration updates
PINEVILLE, La. – Oct. 11, 2020 (3 p.m. update) – As of 3 p.m. today, Cleco had restored power to 81,098, or 61 percent, of the more than 132,000 customers who were left without power due to Hurricane Delta. The Category 2 Hurricane brought heavy rain and powerful winds.
“On day two, we’re more than halfway there with power restored to 61 percent of our customers,” said James Lass, director of distribution operations and emergency management. “We’ve made really good progress following our storm plan by which we restore power to critical facilities such as water and sewage systems, hospitals and medical facilities and then to the largest number of customers. Crews will continue working to restore power to the remaining customers.”
In addition to Cleco personnel, the company has more than 2,500 contractors dedicated to restoration efforts. Contractors include line mechanics, tree trimmers, transmission resources and damage assessors.
“We truly appreciate our customers’ patience, as we have had back-to-back hurricanes during a global pandemic,” said Lass. “This have been a very challenging year, but we will get through this together.”
