Power restored to 96 percent of customers impacted by Hurricane Laura Cleco urges customers to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses 4 p.m. update
PINEVILLE, La. – Sept. 9, 2020 – As of 4 p.m., Cleco had restored power to 96 percent of the 140,000 customers affected by Hurricane Laura.
“Today, high temperatures and high humidity are expected in some of the parishes where our crews are working. As such, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory,” said James Lass, director of distribution operations and emergency management. “The heat and humidity can be a challenge during power restoration, but our crews are prepared, and they’ve taking the necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.”
Customers should also take the necessary precautions, especially those who do not have air conditioning or power due to Hurricane Laura.
“Drink plenty of fluids, wear loose-fitting clothing, stay out of the sun if you can and check on relatives, neighbors and the elderly,” said Lass.
