Cleco restores power to 73 percent of customers following storms
Pineville, La. (1 p.m.) – Following yesterday’s storms in St. Tammany and Washington parishes, Cleco has restored power to 20,390 of the 28,000 customers who experienced power outages.
“We spent a lot of time yesterday clearing unsafe electrical situations, restoring power to critical community services like hospitals, nursing homes, police and fire departments, and restoring power to densely populated areas,” said James Lass, general manager of distribution operations and emergency management. “Today, we continue our restoration efforts. In addition to the Cleco and contractor crews we brought in yesterday, we’ve brought in an additional four contractor crews and over 20 additional Cleco line mechanics from unaffected areas to assist with clean up and restoration efforts.”
Cleco reminds customers to be aware of possible downed lines. Stay away from low-hanging or downed lines. Call Cleco at 1-800-622-6537 and 911 to report an unsafe situation with electricity. For additional safety tips click here.
