Pineville, La. (5 p.m.) – As of 5 p.m., Cleco has restored power to 66 percent of the 28,000 customers who experienced power outages following early morning storms in St. Tammany.

“Crews have been working around-the-clock since the storms hit early this morning,” said James Lass, general manager of distribution operations and emergency management.  “We had a lot of damage to our system, including broken poles and downed wire, as well as fallen trees and debris that had to be cleared for our crews to begin work.  While we have made and continue to make progress, we expect some outages will last overnight and ask customers with medical needs and small children to make the necessary arrangements for tonight.” 

“Crews will work through the night and into tomorrow to return power to customers,” said Lass.  “We appreciate our customers’ patience as crews work safely and efficiently to restore power.”
