Cleco presents St. Tammany Parish Government with energy efficiency award
PINEVILLE, La. – Today, Cleco presented St. Tammany Parish Government with a check for $47,364.03 for lighting upgrades completed this year through Cleco’s Power Wise™ energy efficiency program.
St. Tammany Parish Government has participated in Cleco’s Power Wise program for the past five years. During this time, they have received a total of $149,790.84 in incentives and are estimated to save over 1,597,650 kWh annually, which is enough electricity to power 133 homes for one year based on an average use of 12,000 kWh a year (1,000 kWh per month).
“St. Tammany Parish Government, a Cleco customer, has participated in Power Wise since 2015,” said Hammad Chaudhry, Cleco’s energy efficiency program manager. “During this time, they have upgraded to LED lighting at several of their facilities, such as the Parish’s Justice Center and public libraries, as well as satellite offices.”
“Throughout the five years we’ve participated in this program, we’ve increased our energy efficiency, realized thousands of dollars in cumulative savings in our energy bills, reduced our carbon footprint, and seen immediate earnings of nearly $150,000.00 from Cleco rebates. We also have learned a great deal from Cleco about how and why these small changes make an impact,” said Pat Brister, St. Tammany Parish President. “Moving forward, we will continue to see all of these same efficiencies, coupled with the continuation of accumulated savings throughout every fiscal year.”
“Being able to offer the latest technology in lighting to our customers is both innovative and rewarding,” said Chaudhry. “St. Tammany Parish Government has been working to be more energy efficient, and their efforts are paying off.”
