PINEVILLE, La. – Power Wise, Cleco’s energy efficiency program, awarded a check for $22,523.40 to Sacred Heart School in Ville Platte for participation in a lighting upgrade to the school that will save the school 225,234 kWh, enough electricity to power approximately 15 homes using an average amount of electricity for a year.

“We are pleased to provide Sacred Heart lighting upgrades through Power Wise that will benefit them for years to come,” said Hammad Chaudhry, energy efficiency program manager.  “By providing energy saving solutions to this customer, we are playing a role in sustaining the future of a community we have served for many years.  As the school reduces its energy expenses, there will be more funds available for educational tools and other supplies needed to operate.  We are proud to partner Sacred Heart School.”

Sacred Heart completed lighting upgrades by installing LEDs in classrooms, hallways, two gymnasiums and in the library located in the elementary school.  According to the Department of Energy, LED bulbs use 75 percent less energy and last 25 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs and produce less heat and last longer than CFL bulbs.

Cleco’s Power Wise program also offers a program to residential customers.  By providing programs that weatherize homes, install ceiling insulation and provide rebates for smart thermostats, as well as pool pumps and HVAC units, Cleco is providing solutions for homeowners to reduce their energy use.
