Cleco presents Tony Chachere’s with energy efficiency award

Jul 24, 2018

PINEVILLE, La.  Cleco awarded Tony Chachere’s Creole Foods a total of $60,684.20 for a two-phased lighting upgrade project that began in 2017 through the utility’s energy efficiency program. During the first phase, Tony Chachere’s received a $25,000 incentive, and then recently, the company received $35,684.20 in cash incentives to complete the interior and exterior lighting project.

Collectively, Tony Chachere’s upgraded more than 3,400 interior lights and 70 exterior lights to LED throughout the facility and its parking areas. The projected energy savings of both phases of the project total 641,217 kWh, which is enough energy to power more than 900 refrigerators for one year, assuming annual energy consumption of 700 kWh for a refrigerator.

Cleco’s commercial energy efficiency program provides financial incentives to offset the cost of lighting and HVAC replacements for large and small business.

“Our commitment to our customers and our communities remains strong,” said Hammad Chaudhry, Cleco’s energy efficiency program manager. “Our goal is to partner with our customers to help them manage their energy use. As our business customers become more energy efficient, we are playing a small role in helping our communities retain business and jobs.”

In addition to Cleco’s commercial program, the utility offers a program for its residential customers that address ceiling insulation, air leaks and duct sealing, among other program offerings.
