Cleco partners with Fit Families for Cenla and Pineville Elementary for bike safety
Pineville, La. - Today, Cleco will join Fit Families for Cenla at Pineville Elementary School to teach students about bicycle safety.
“Through a combination of classroom and on-the-bike instruction, approximately 40 third-grade students will learn the proper safety practices for riding bicycles,” said Teresa Coplen, Fit Familes Cenla chief operating officer. “During the classroom segment, students will learn about road rules, understanding signs and signals, turning and properly approaching road hazards. During the hands-on portion of the workshop, students will practice bike control, scanning & signaling, changing lanes and how to properly wear helmets and protective gear.”
“Safety is a top priority for Cleco, not only for our employees but for our families and communities,” said John Melancon, Cleco general manager of corporate safety. “We are happy to partner with Fit Families for Cenla to encourage kids to be healthy, active and safe.
“We want Cenla families to safely enjoy the outdoors and take advantage of the numerous recreational opportunities available in the area, said Coplen. “Community partners like Cleco make accomplishing our goal possible.”
In addition the bicycle safety workshop at Pineville Elementary, Cleco, along with other community partners, will be sponsoring the Fall Fit Families for Cenla Social on Nov. 4 from 8a.m. to noon at the Kincaid recreation area.
