Cleco wraps up annual fan drive
PINEVILLE, La - The Cleco Fan Drive is helping some of its elderly customers stay comfortable and save energy this summer. For 15 years, Cleco has partnered with local councils on aging throughout its service territory to distribute box fans to those in need. This year, Cleco delivered 700 fans to 20 local agencies serving the elderly.
“Whether it was through donations or assisting with fundraising events, our local communities Turner, general manager of customer experience management. “We are thankful for everyone’s efforts and generosity. Many of our elderly customers are on fixed incomes, and these fans can make a world of difference to them.”
While the fan drive directly aids elderly customers, it also is a reminder to everyone about conserving energy during the hot summer months. “Cleco recommends a thermostat setting of 78 degrees to achieve maximum energy efficiency,” said Turner. “Using a fan in the summer can make the air feel 10 degrees cooler, which helps you to maintain your thermostat at a higher setting. Fans are an inexpensive option to help cool your home during the summer.”
Cleco also encourages customers to run heat-generating appliances in the evening and to unplug electronic devices when they are not in use as they continue to use energy.
Elderly individuals who are interested in receiving a fan should contact their local council on aging. For additional energy conservation tips, customers should visit the Cleco website at www.cleco.com
