Whether you’re upgrading your heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system or building a new home, residential heat pumps are the most energy efficient and green way to heat and cool your home.
With heat pumps, you don’t need two separate units because they function as both heaters and air conditioners. During the summer months, heat pumps extract hot air from inside a home and transfer it outside. During the winter months, heat pumps work in the opposite direction and transfer heat inside a home. Because most of the heat is transferred and not generated, they require less energy. Additionally, when compared to a gas furnace or a traditional HVAC system, heat pumps are safer because gas leaks or tip-over hazards are not possible. They also don’t make as much noise, provide better indoor air quality, require less maintenance and produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions making them better for the environment.
Exact energy savings depend on several factors, including location, type of heat pump, current HVAC system, energy costs and energy usage. Some homeowners have reported savings ranging from 20 percent to 50 percent on their heating and cooling costs after switching to a heat pump.
The projected long-term energy savings, along with Cleco’s heat pump rebates and federal tax credits help offset the installation cost, making heating and cooling your home with a heat pump more affordable than ever.

What incentives are available?
Residential customers can receive up to $3,500 when they replace their air conditioning unit with a new energy-efficient unit or upgrade to a heat pump. Cleco-approved HVAC contractors simplify the process for homeowners by offering an instant rebate at the time of purchase and handling all the necessary paperwork, including proof of purchase and other documentation. The rebate is available through Power Wise, Cleco’s energy efficiency program. Visit HVAC Replacement Program to select one of our approved HVAC contractors to begin the process.
In addition, Cleco Power Wise offers a mail-in rebate for $500 to residential customers who install a qualified central heat pump and heat pump water heater in their newly constructed home. Visit Residential Rebates to complete the New Construction rebate form and apply for the rebate.
