Archbishop Hannan High School saves big with Cleco programs Receives $11,908 in incentives from Cleco’s SCORE® Program

Pineville, La. – Today, Cleco awarded Archbishop Hannan High School in Covington an $11,908 cash incentive for the school’s commitment to energy efficiency. 

Archbishop Hannan High School, a Cleco customer and participant in Cleco’s Schools Conserving Resources (SCORE) Program, completed indoor and outdoor lighting upgrades that help the school improve energy usage and reduce energy costs.  In total, the school replaced nearly 3,000 lamps saving 120,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.  According to the Environmental Protection Agency, this is the equivalent of eliminating the carbon dioxide emissions from 9,489 gallons of gasoline or the electricity use of nine homes for one year. 

“The Cleco SCORE Program not only helped us identify specific changes that would drastically lower our annual utility bills, but provided us the data and one-to-one consulting services necessary for us to make it happen,” said Father Charles Latour, principal of Archbishop Hannan High School. 

Cleco’s SCORE Program is designed to assist educational institutions identify ways to save energy.  It includes no-cost facility improvement recommendations and offers financial incentives for qualifying projects. 

“The SCORE Program is one of many energy efficiency programs that provide assistance and financial incentives to Cleco customers for installing energy efficiency measures that reduce energy consumption,” said Richard Sharp, director of resource planning. “The programs also are available to commercial and industrial customers, residential customers, small businesses and municipalities.”

Launched in 2015, Cleco’s energy efficiency programs have awarded its customers $2,319,744 in incentives for completed energy efficiency projects which also can lead to lower bills for customers.  Incentives include rebates for energy efficient improvements, such as insulation, air conditioning tune-ups and mail-in rebates for energy efficient appliances.
